Founded in 1989 by Luciano Ghirardelli, its offices and factories are based in northern Italy, in Cologne, a town in Franciacorta near Lake Iseo. The idea of the founder, who was already working in the industry long before, was to personally apply his long experience to the best possible sealing with gaskets in different materials with a special focus on graphite, precisely because of the latter’s ability to operate under extreme conditions. Today, the company is run by the children Claudio and Danila with their respective families and thus enjoys the advantages of a family-run business combined with a real industrial structure that runs between design, consulting, technical support, administrative and commercial procedures that guarantee a perfect production process from the project to the final customer.

All these operations have been moving, since 1996, in perfect compliance with ISO 9001:2008 certified procedures. Our spirometal seals, stamped rings and stem packs have earned the esteem of the world’s leading valve manufacturers, endorsed by the most authoritative “fugitive emission” certifications such as Shell SPE 77/312 Class A and Class B, API Standard 622, VDI 2440 (TA Luft) and ISO 15848. Of special note is the recent recognition of “Qualified Supplier” awarded to CMD by Petrofac. CMD has its eyes continually turned to the future, and the design department is engaged in the constant study of innovative products. In fact, CMD boasts patents on some of its products, particularly those generated by the continuous exchange of information and experience with its customers.
